Water Analysis ReportBriefEvaluate the effect Scale Manager 2 has on hard water, installed in a domestic situation. Test duration 60 days.InstallationAs per Waltham Electronics instructions.DefinitionsHardness is due to the presence of salts - Magnesium and Calcium. It is expressed as the equivalent of Calcium Carbonate (CaCo3). The Total Hardness is the sum of the Carbonate Hardness and Non-carbonate Hardness, depending on whether or not the Calcium or the Magnesium is combined with one of the stronger acids to form a sulphate or a chloride. The Carbonate Hardness can largely be deposited by boiling water and so driving off the loosely combined Calcium Dioxide (CaO2). For this Carbonate Hardness accounts for at least 90% of the deposits found in domestic plumbing. Non-carbonate Hardness, precipitating by concentration, can be a major source of problems in steam-raising situations. TurbidityIndicates the presence of suspended matter in water, and is measured by visual or photometric comparison of a sample with a suspension of colloidal silica. It is expressed as parts per million of silica. Suspended matter is measured directly by a gravimetric technique. It does not correspond with turbidity measurement that is affected by the particle size of the matter present. % Salts in suspensionPercentage of hardness salts ineffective. pHMeasure of Acidity and Alkalinity Degree ClarkMeasure of water hardness. ppmPart per million Evaluation of Waltham Electronics, Scale Manger II, commenced October 14 1996.
*Turbidity and Percentage of salts in suspension will decrease as limescale deposits diminish ConclusionThe results testify Scale Manager 2 will reduce limescale by at least 90%, and would be 100% effective on Calcium Carbonate deposits.
