| Best water
softener is a term that many people search for on
the Internet, but are you aware of what a water softener is
and what it actually does? As for comparing it to other water
softeners, what are you going to use as your main measurement,
and how are you going to check its accuracy?
Water softeners change
the chemical composition of your household water by using
an ion exchange process. Magnesium and calcium ions which
are present in larger quantities in hard water areas, are
replaced by sodium ions which ‘soften’ the water.
It is the magnesium and calcium ions which contribute to the
limescale build up in household
pipes and domestic appliances. It is also these ions which
form the scum when they react with soap, result in less lather
being produced, and cause showers to become less effective
over time. We could therefore assume that if a water softener
could reverse these effects to its maximum degree compared
to the competition, then it could be called the “best
water softener”.
In the regeneration
process in water softeners, which they need to do in order
to maintain effective ion exchange, large amounts of brine
containing calcium and magnesium are flushed away as waste.
This may not be regarded as environmentally friendly. In this
case, you could assume that the water softener with the least
adverse environmental impact is the best water softener.
The simplest measure
would probably be price. Rather than measure each in isolation,
finding the best combination of these three factors could
increase the chances of finding the beast water softener.
However, have you considered the difference between a water
softener and for example, an electronic
magnetic water descaler?
Besides costing less,
being easier to install, requiring less space, and not having
the same adverse environmental impact, a water descaler removes
limescale effectively, without the need for a separate drinking
water supply. Couple this with a LifeTime no quibble guarantee
against the manufacturing defects or the failure components,
and you may well be able to call this the best electronic
water descaler.
