Water Descalers: Scale Manager
2 is the industry’s top performing electronic water descaler
(also known as a water conditioner). It has a life time warrantee
and also carries a 6-month
no risk money back guarantee. Scale Manager
2 should not be compared to any other similar device available
that are mostly called water conditioners or water softeners.
Scale Manager 2 is the only water descaler that harnesses 2 systems
of treatment to ensure complete limescale eradication, designed
to treat all types of hard water in all domestic situations. Scale
Manager 2 is the maintenance free solution to hard water problems;
removing existing limescale and preventing further build-up without
the need for chemicals, salts, alteration to plumbing, or a separate
drinking water supply, unlike a water softener. The Scale Manager
2 effect does not alter the waters chemical composition, but achieves
the many advantages of limescale free water. Scale Manager 2 costs
as little as £1.30 a year to run, unlike water softeners that
cost between £50 - £150.
Water Conditioners: As mentioned
above water conditioners are similar to a water descaler. However,
many water conditioners have a single R.F output that changes
frequency very slowly; therefore not treating all of the water
with all of the known frequencies all of the time. We prefer to
call Scale Manager 2 a water descaler as apposed to a water conditioner,
as it is exactly what Scale Manager does – descales the
whole property.
Water Softeners: Traditional
water softeners work by changing the very composition of the hard
water through 'ion-exchange'. This process results in a low-level
introduction of sodium (salt) into the water. For an impartial
view the softener process, take a look at the British Heart Foundation's
(BHF) article on water
softeners and their affects.
The cost of Water Softeners, dependent on size, is generally between
£650 and £1,500. Water Softeners are relatively expensive
to install, requiring plumbing modifications - the salts used
in water softeners will cost between £50 and £150
per year - the water is not suitable for babies and some adults
to consume - a separate drinking water supply is essential and
the effluent water is environmentally unfriendly - unlike
a Water Descaler or Water Conditioner. Compared
to a descaler a water softener is far larger and requires a lot
more space. Also the salts used in water softeners are bulky and
need storage space. Some water softeners are difficult to fill
with salt, particularly when in a confined space.
Magnets, Catalytic & Ionisation Devices:
These are only partially effective as they are not usually able
to remove existing limescale and generally are not suitable for
long term whole house application.
How does it work? There are
two technologies employed to produce the magnetic charge that
Scale Manager 2 delivers so effectively - Radio Frequency (RF)
and Direct Inductive Coupling (DIC). The two systems are modulated
onto independent antennas, allowing greater fitting versatility
and increased outputs, in excess of two ordinary water descalers
or conditioners.
Most water conditioners have a square-wave output
and change frequency very slowly in steps (not covering all frequencies
known to treat scale). Scale Manager 2’s outputs are digitally
produced sine-wave, ensuring greater frequency coverage. Most
brands of water conditioners translate the outputs of their products
in terms of pulses, Scale Manager 2 delivers an unparalleled 13000
magnetic pulses per second, covering all the known frequency’s
to reduce limescale. It is this action that neutralises the calcium
carbonate’s ability to adhere. Both RF and DIC systems are
produced via the very powerful PIC 16 microprocessor that has
a proven accuracy and reliability record.
As the treated water flows through your plumbing
system it will reverse the limescale forming process and disintegrate
the build-up already present, the process starts immediately Scale
Manager 2 is installed. It may take several months to eradicate
limescale where heavy deposits are to be found. However, the beneficial
effects will be observed usually within 2-10 days or so - see
benefits
when? The reason for a delay is the unconditioned stored
water takes some time to be totally replaced with conditioned
water. Read how the
Water Descaler actually works.
Scale Manager 2 is a belt and braces product.
Designed and manufactured in the UK by Waltham Electronics up
to the highest of standards, not down to a price. Our
unique no quibble replacement guarantee is for life.
Others may well have attempted to follow where
Waltham Electronics has led, but Scale Manager 2 has set the benchmark
for all descalers, water conditioners and water softeners to strive
towards.
Hard Water: Hard water in simple terms is caused
by rainwater passing through chalk and/or limestone, where it
collects deposits of mineral salts. The principal salt contributing
to hard water is calcium bicarbonate (CaHCo3).
The calcium bicarbonate is in a solution form, but precipitates
out into calcium carbonate (CaCo3), which is a sub-microscopic,
insoluble molecule. The molecules are attracted to each other,
and adhere to the wall of pipes, etc, creating limescale deposits. To
get a mental picture of this process, simply bring to mind the
stalagmites and stalactites found in caves. The calcium carbonate
content of limescale exceeds 98%, therefore if the sub-microscopic
molecules can be made to reject instead of attract, limescale
cannot form.
Limescale: Whilst limescale
itself is not considered a health hazard, hard water has been
known to exasperate eczema and irritate those with sensitive skin
conditions. It has been noted by medical authorities that the
mineral content of hard water is beneficial. Most water softeners
rely on removing these minerals, thereby removing any associated
benefit, but Scale Manager 2 retains the calcium in the water.
For a more in-depth explanation, read how the
Scale Manager 2 electronic water descaler
actually works.
The higher the temperature, the more limescale will form. Therefore
limescale build-up will be greater in the hot water system, particularly
immersion heaters and boilers. See our savings
page to work out how much money you could save with Scale Manager
2, and of the environmental reasons for doing so.
Limescale in your water heating system translates into lower heat
transfer. Heating your water through limescale takes longer, this
means your water heating costs will keep rising as the scale increases.
Limescale build-up also dramatically reduces the life and increases
maintenance costs of appliances such as, washing machines, dishwashers
and your water heating system. Combination boilers
are particularly susceptible to limescale as well as the problems
above, it can cause poor hot water flow and noise/kettleing within
the boiler - it is strongly recommended in hard water areas that
a descaler or water softener be fitted.
Most of us are familiar with the problems related
to hard water, however there is also a plus side. It is now medically
accepted that hard water reduces the risk of heart disease and
the high calcium content is also beneficial for healthy bones
and teeth, particularly in growing children.
Scale Manager 2 does not
alter the chemical composition of your water; therefore the health
benefits of consuming hard water are retained - unlike a water
softener.
